PUNCTURE, the Dallas-based industrial metal band, has joined forces with Black Artifact to reissue their 1994 debut CD in an expanded two-disc edition. This special edition will include the original 1994 CD, completely remastered by Rob Colwell, along with a second disc featuring demo versions, unreleased tracks, and remixes mastered by Grant Richardson.

PUNCTURE first gained notoriety in the ’90s when Gammacide guitarist Rick Perry began exploring non-traditional realms of heaviness. Teaming up with techno DJ Per Nilsson, Puncture became a furious hybrid of thrash metal guitars, pulverizing drum machines, raspy vocals, and a barrage of bizarre samples.

Additional musicians were recruited to bring PUNCTURE's music to the concert stage, including John Perez (SOLITUDE AETURNUS), Mike Harmatiuk Trujillo (THE HELLIONS, KILLCREEPS), Larry Moses (DAYS OF DECISION), Mark Brian Powell (GAMMACIDE), and Brad Womack (CAUSTIC DEATH). The PUNCTURE live experience was further enhanced by clouds of fog, strobe lights, and video screens displaying animal vivisection and S&M bondage.

Earlier this year, Black Artifact reached out to Rick Perry, reminding him of the 30th anniversary of PUNCTURE’s debut CD, and proposed a reissue.

The result is PUNCTURE XXX. Rob Colwell had access to the original DAT masters and has given new clarity and punch to aggro-classics like “Nailed to a Cross” and “Breeding Contempt.” The second CD includes the original demo versions, unreleased tracks such as “Bullet in the Chamber,” and some techno remixes mastered by Grant Richardson. The cover art of the 1994 release has been reimagined and reinterpreted by Black Artifact.

As Kerrang! Magazine said upon Puncture’s original 1994 release, “…with white noise screams of pain grafted onto an irresistible beat, you won’t know whether to start dancing or start killing!”
